Full Day in the South Coast

About 7 hours

We will depart from the hotel, and should clients need it, we’ll make a pit stop to buy bottled water or whatever they may need. Then, we will begin our day and our first stop will be in the Vaihu area, which is an ahu located in the Hanga Te’e area, in the southwest coast of the island.

We will then head to the area of Ahu Aka Hanga, which is a well‑known area of the island since –according to traditional history– King Hotu Matu’a is buried by the Ahu. After listening to the guide’s explanation, we will continue our excursion to the area of Rano Raraku (moai quarry or ‘factory’), where we’ll be able to admire all 397 moai statues, which are scattered all over the volcano in different stages of construction.

Then we will visit Tongariki, the last of the ahu to be restored and the largest one with its moai standing upright. We will have a snack at this point (1 half‑litre bottle of mineral water, 1 can of soft drink, 2 sandwiches, 1 hard‑boiled egg, 1 piece of fruit, 1 cereal bar, and a fun size bag of cookies.) After we’re done, we will move onto the Papa Vaka and Te Pito Kura site, to then end our day in Anakena, visiting the Nau Nau and Ature Huki Ahus, Here you’ll get to experience Anakena’s warm and crystal waters. Return to the town of Hanga Roa.
